How do I read my own text?

Paste text into the home screen custom text field, select a speed and start. This does not save a library book.

How do I change speed or pause?

Use plus and minus for custom text, or Settings for book speed. Tap to pause, then choose “Resume” to continue. SpeedRead pauses automatically when you switch to another app. Your book position is saved when you pause or leave the reading screen.

Which PDFs work?

Choose PDF import and select a file with an existing text layer. Image-only scans are unsupported; there is no OCR feature. Password-locked PDFs are rejected. Complex columns or headers may affect reading order.

What should I know before importing?

Keep an original copy outside the SpeedRead app folder. Automatic import from that folder keeps the source file if the import fails. After saving successfully, or finding an existing book with the same title and identical cleaned text, it removes the imported source file from the app folder. Check the imported content and word count.

How do I delete a book?

Long-press its library entry and confirm deletion. Previously recorded reading statistics remain.

Is there synchronization?

Library, progress and profile stay local, without sign-in or app-provided synchronization. Device backups are separate. Reading needs no upload; updates and email can use the internet.
