Photo Metadata Cleaner
Inspect every hidden tag in your photo — EXIF, GPS, camera, software, C2PA Content Credentials, PNG generation parameters — and strip them losslessly. Perfect for beating AI-content false-positives and protecting your privacy.
Clean removes the metadata. "Check only" just shows which photos contain AI metadata — without changing anything.

How it works
Load your photos
One or many photos at once — drag-and-drop or browse. Each file is processed automatically and stays fully in your browser — zero upload.
See every tag
exifr reads every EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC tag: camera model, software, location, capture time. It also detects C2PA Content Credentials and PNG text chunks (AI generation parameters).
Strip losslessly
For JPG, PNG and WebP only the metadata blocks are removed from the container — the compressed image data stays bit-identical.
Why this tool?
Every photo carries hidden data: your phone writes GPS coordinates, camera model, serial number and capture time straight into the file. When you share it, you hand all of that over unintentionally.
AI images (ChatGPT/DALL·E, gpt-image, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly) often embed C2PA Content Credentials — a cryptographic provenance signature. PNGs from Stable Diffusion or ComfyUI store the full prompts and workflow parameters in text chunks. This tool shows and removes them.
Important: invisible pixel watermarks (e.g. Google SynthID) are NOT metadata — they are baked into the image itself and cannot be removed by stripping metadata.
