1. Introduction

TheWave ("we", "us", "our app") respects your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect data.

2. Data We Collect

With Account:

  • Email address and username (for login)
  • Focus sessions (duration, timestamps)
  • Streak statistics and progress

Without Account:

Your focus sessions, streaks and stats stay locally on your device. Only anonymous usage analytics are transmitted to our servers (see section 5), unless you have disabled them in the app settings.

  • Synchronizing your progress between devices
  • Calculating statistics and leaderboards
  • Improving app functionality

4. Data Storage & Third Parties

If you create an account, your account and session data is stored with Supabase (servers in the EU). We use encryption and follow industry standards for data security.

For premium purchases we use RevenueCat (USA). RevenueCat receives an anonymous device ID and your purchase information so we can restore your premium status across devices. Payment itself runs through Apple or Google – we never see payment details.

App blocking (iOS) uses Apple's ScreenTime/FamilyControls APIs. The list of apps you choose to block stays entirely on your device – it is never transmitted to us or to Apple.

5. Anonymous Usage Analytics (PostHog)

To understand how TheWave is used and where we can improve, we collect anonymous usage analytics via PostHog (servers in Frankfurt, EU). Examples of what we collect: focus sessions started and completed, screens viewed, buttons tapped. No session content, email addresses or personally identifiable information is transmitted.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in data-driven product improvement (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).

You can disable this data collection at any time in the app settings under Privacy → Anonymous usage analytics. Collected data is automatically deleted after a maximum of 12 months.

You can at any time:

  • View your data
  • Delete your account and all data
  • Use the app without an account
  • Opt out of anonymous usage analytics in the app settings
  • Request a data export or full disclosure via email
